Welcome!

Dear Sixth Grade Students and Parents:

Welcome to junior high!  I hope you have had a wonderful summer and that you are almost ready to begin your journey.   My summer was very busy preparing for the new school year, and I am looking forward to working with each of you.

The middle school years are a time of change, growth, and new opportunities.   Students have more responsibilities as well as more privileges.  There are many challenges ahead, but I feel confident that each student will triumphantly prevail.  It is my priority to ensure that each student feels they are a part of our class and a part of their education.  The workload, social adjustments, responsibilities, and expectations are greater at the junior high level and the teachers and staff are here to help you grow and adjust.  The next three years will be filled with many new, exciting opportunities for you.

St. Joseph the Worker School has a code of conduct that the faculty, staff, and students follow carefully.  Please read this code of conduct the first week of school to help you become acquainted with our policies and procedures.  It is located in the front of your parent/student handbook, which can be downloaded from the school website at sjwschool.net.

I encourage parents to volunteer and visit at any time. Communication between home and school is one of the essential keys to student success.  Parent/student conferences, emails, notes in your planners, and phone calls are a few ways that we can stay in touch. If I can be of any assistance, please do not hesitate to contact me at the school by phone or email.  (Please note that I can only respond to parents through e-mail, not students.  It’s a safety thing.)  If you e-mail me, please put the student’s name in the subject line so that I don’t mistake your message for spam.

There is a meeting scheduled on August 30th at 7:15 pm for junior high parents.  I hope to see your parents there.

Please visit the school website at www.saintjosephtheworkerschool.net, and also check our 6th Grade Blog at http://sjw6thgradeknights.blogspot.com/.  Thank you for your help and support and I look forward to having a successful sixth grade school year.

Let's go, Knights!

Kind regards,
Ms. Cynthia Coffman, MEd.
